Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has left the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). The former Kano state governor and 2023 presidential candidate joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday and have officially collected his membership card at his Kwankwasiyya House on Miller Road.
On Sunday, Kwankwaso had announced that he will resign from the New Nigeria People’s Party, the party which he used to contest for the 2023 presidential election.
In a resignation statement, Kwankwaso described the decision as difficult but necessary, he said that the current politics in Nigeria needed a “strategic realignment.” He also thanked the NNPP leadership, and all the supporters of the Kwankwaso movement before taking his leave.
The registration event to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was held on Monday at Kwankwasiyya House, with some big names in Nigerian politics showing up to witness the moment.
ADC National Chairman David Mark was present, former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, former Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, Rotimi Ameachi, Senator Dino melaye and many others.
Several of these big names have been making political changes ahead of the 2027 Presidential election and their attendance at Kwankwaso’s registration event is very significant.
