Musician Innocent Idibia popularly known has 2Baba appeared in an interview on the Wazobia FM Show, when the interviewer brought up one of his old songs “E Be Like Say” where he pointed out that some of the challenges he was singing about years back is what Nigeria is currently facing.
2Baba replied, saying that the country was better than what it used to be.
“We dey beta off than many years ago, if u look at am.” Which translates to “We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” he replied.
The interviewer further asked whether he wanted to enter politics, which led to him describing his role in the country’s growth.
He labeled himself as a “self-appointed ambassador” for Nigeria. He also made it clear that he has no interest in running an office or getting involved in politics, saying that he prefers to operate on his own terms and make a difference outside of politics.
Though he accepted being involved in political campaigns in the past.
This reply came has a shock to a lot of Nigerians. After the interview went public a lot of people on social media felt the comment was out touch, has the comment did not reflect the reality of many Nigerians struggling with insecurity, high cost of living among many others.
