The internet has been on Biola Adebayo’s case after her interview with convicted sexual offender Baba Ijesha on her YouTube show, and on Tuesday she came out to apologize and address the whole situation.
Biola Adebayo who is a Nollywood actress and podcaster recently interviewed Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha, on her show called Talk to B. During the interview, Baba Ijesha talked about how he was setup and was sent to prison for sexual assault and other charges, he also brought up his past relationship with actress Iyabo Ojo.
The interview sparked a lot of angry and harsh reactions from people, has a lot accused Biola of giving Baba Ijesha, who is a convicted sexual offender a microphone to rewrite his own story.
In a response video made by Biola and posted on Instagram, she explained that she had reached out to Baba Ijesha and asked him directly hoping he would use the platform to apologize, but he said he declined saying he was not ready. She went ahead with the interview anyway.
She also said that interviewer job is to ask questions and not be the judge, and further said she would never use her platform to defend rapist or pedophile. She described herself as a sexual assault survivor, a mother, and someone who looks out for children.
She also addressed the suggestion that the whole interview was a move against Iyabo Ojo. According to her, she did not edit out Baba Ijesha’s comments about Iyabo Ojo because he did not say anything harmful or bad about her.
Baba Ijesha was found guilty in the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja in July 2022 for the sexual assault and indecent treatment on a child. The court gave him a five-year sentence alongside a concurrent three-year term.
