Yusuf Buhari, who is the only son of the late former Nigerian president Mohammed Buhari, has come out showing his interest in contesting for the House of Representative seat.
His message was contained in a letter which was dated on the 3rd of April and was signed by him. In the letter, Yusuf told the stakeholders of his plan to contest the seat of the House of Representatives for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal constituency in Katsina State under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2027.
Weeks before the letter, APC stakeholders from the Sandamu Local Government Area have already gathered and shown support to Yusuf as their preferred candidate.
The council chairman, Usman Na-Lado, explained that the support to Yusuf has a joint and cooperative decision.
They also upheld their support for President Tinubu and Governor Radda has APC candidate for the presidency and governorship election in 2027.
Yusuf Buhari has stayed out of public presence ever since his father’s presidency ended in 2023. After his father’s death on the 13th of July 2025, he has kept a low profile since.
