U.S. Launches Strike on Venezuela, Trump Says Maduro and Wife Captured

The United States attacked Venezuela and captured both its President Nicolas Maduro and his wife
on Saturday, President Donald Trump said.

In a post on truth social, Trump stated “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.”

The United States have since accused Maduro of running a nacro state and also rigging the 2024 election, which he has denied countless of times saying the United States intends to control the country’s oil reserves.

It been reported that civilians and military officials died following the strike on Saturday by the United States, but figures concerning the number of deaths has been confirmed.

The operation was carried out in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement, Trump said, further adding that more details involving the strike will be spoken at a press conference in Florida by 11am(1600 GMT).

America’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, on a post on X stated “They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,” addressing Maduro and his wife.

After the strike, some Venezuela government officials has commented on the attack and adoption of the country’s President and its First Lady.

Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, said she did not know the whereabouts of both the President and his wife and demanded proof of life.

In video message, Vladimir Padrino, the defence minister condemned the attacks saying “In the unity of the people we will find the strength to resist and to triumph.” Minister Diosdado Cabello, a senior officer was also seen urging people not to associate with the “terrorist enemy.”

Countries including Russia, Cuba, and Iran condemned the strikes, describing them as a violation of national sovereignty, with Iran calling on the United Nations Security Council to halt what it termed an “unlawful aggression.”
