Manchester United Confirm Casemiro Will Leave Club at End of Season

Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro will be leaving the club at the end of the season as soon as his contract expires.

Announced by the club, on Thursday, the decision was made in advance of announcement and is a part of the club’s long-term squad rebuild. At this point, Casemiro had requested that the club announce his departure.

Casemiro shared in a social media post, alongside a video highlighting moments from his time at the club “I have decided that this will be my last four month at Old Trafford,” futher saying “It’s not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months, we still have a lot to fight for together, and my full focus will remain on giving everything to help the club succeed.”

In August 2022, Manchester United paid nearly £60 million for the transfer of Casemiro from Real Madrid. With 21 goals in 146 games, the five-time Champions League champion soon established himself as a vital midfield player.

He played an important role in Manchester United recent successes, particularly the Red Devils’ 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in the 2023 League Cup final where he scored a goal. Additionally, he was a member of the team that won the FA Cup in 2024.

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal, whom they face at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The team are coming off a morale-boosting 2-0 derby win over Manchester City, the first match under caretaker manager Michael Carrick following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
