FEWS ESUT Reschedules Inaugural Football Tournament to January 18

The Federation of Enugu West Students (FEWS), Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) chapter, has announced a new date for its Inaugural Football Tournament and Executive Celebration.

According to a notice released by the Office of the Director of Health and Sports, the tournament has been officially rescheduled to begin on January 18, 2026. FEWS earlier set the kick off the Inauguration Football Tournament to run from January 16 to January 23, 2026, but was shifted to allow for better participation.

Explaining the reason for the change, the Director of Health and Sports, Sen. Nkedife Nora, popularly known as LilyNora, said the decision was taken due to the low number of students currently on campus. “The adjustment became necessary due to the current low student turnout on campus, as many are yet to resume. We want full participation and maximum engagement, hence the shift,” she stated.

The FEWS Inaugural Tournament is expected to feature football teams from Enugu West Local Government Areas, including Udi, Ezeagu, Agwu, Oji River, and Aninri. Beyond football, the event also serves as the official celebration of the newly elected FEWS executives, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase within the student body.

Sen. Nkedife Nora apologized for any inconvenience the rescheduling may cause and appealed for continued support from students and stakeholders. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and count on your continued support and enthusiasm,” she added.

The announcement was made official by Comr. Prayer Gideon, P.R.O of FEWS ESUT Chapter, who encouraged students to remain prepared for the event.

With the new date set for January 18, organizers are optimistic that the tournament and executive celebration will record strong attendance and deliver the unity, excitement, and impact expected by the FEWS community.
