The management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology has declared two lecture-free days for newly admitted students at the 2025/2026 academic session as part of activities marking the university’s 45th Matriculation ceremony.
This information was made known in an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and was addressed to the university community. According to the memo dated on February 17,2026, Wednesday, 18th February and Friday, 20th February 2026 have been set aside as lecture free days.
The Registrar explained that the decision is to allow both staff and students to fully participate in the matriculation activities. “This is to enable Staff and Students to participate actively in the activities marking the 45th Matriculation Ceromonies of the University,” the statement read.
According to the university, attendance is compulsory for all First Year and Direct Entry students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session. The orientation programme which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, will require mandatory participation, and attendance will be recorded by faculty officers.
The orientation is set to begin by 11:00 AM at the Barr. Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Multipurpose Auditorium. Other activities planned for the two days include the collection of academic gowns and the main matriculation ceremony.
The Registrar, Ambrose G. Ugwu, also directed Deans, Directors, and Head of Departments to ensure the information reaches all students and staff members.
With the announcement, new students are expected to get ready for the orientation and formal induction into the ESUT academic community.
