Computer Science (ESUT) 027′ 2 — 1 Med Lab Gladiators (UNEC) 028′
UNEC Stadium | Wednesday, 17th June 2026 | Kick-off: 12PM
Computer Science (ESUT) made the short trip across to UNEC Stadium and walked away with maximum points, edging out Med Lab Gladiators 2-1 in an inter-university clash that delivered everything a good football fixture should: an early lead, a spirited fightback, and a nerve-wracking finish.
The result extends what has been an impressive run of form for the Computer Science department, who continue to build a reputation as one of the most competitive faculty sides on the ESUT football scene.
How the Match Unfolded
CSC settled into the game quickly and got the breakthrough they were looking for in the first half. Lex got his name on the scoresheet first, slotting home to hand the Computer Science side a deserved lead and putting them firmly in control heading into the break.
Med Lab Gladiators, however, were not ready to fold. Playing in front of their home crowd at UNEC Stadium, the Gladiators responded with real intent, and their pressure paid off when Bobbyl found the equalizer to level the score at 1-1. The goal lifted the home crowd and completely shifted the momentum of the contest, setting up a tense second half.
With the scoreline level, both sides traded chances, and the match took the feel of a genuine 50-50 contest. UNEC pushed for a second, sensing an opportunity to turn the game in their favor on home soil, while CSC were forced to dig in and weather the storm.
It was Lex who once again proved the difference. Late in the second half, with the game edging toward a draw, he struck for a second time to restore CSC’s lead and ultimately seal the win. The goal silenced the home support and sent the travelling Computer Science contingent into a wild celebration — a dramatic, last-gasp winner that summed up the resilience CSC showed throughout the second half.

The Bigger Picture
This win matters beyond the three points. Coming off the back of an ESUT VC Games 2026 season that saw faculties battle fiercely for departmental pride, Computer Science’s victory away from home against a determined UNEC side sends a statement: this is a team capable of grinding out results even when matches don’t go to plan early on.
Med Lab Gladiators will be disappointed not to have gotten anything from a match they fought back into, but they ran CSC close and Bobbyl’s goal showed there is quality in their squad to build on.
For Computer Science, the focus now shifts to building on this momentum. If Lex’s current form is anything to go by, more big performances could be on the way.
Final Score: Computer Science (ESUT) 2 — 1 Med Lab Gladiators (UNEC)
