Top 5 Best Players in the ESUT VC Female Football Tournament So Far

The group stage of the ESUT VC Female Football Tournament officially came to an end on Monday, May 18, with four faculties successfully in the Semi-Finals of the competition.

After several matches, the faculties that made it to the Semi-Finals are Education, Pharmacy, Biological Science and Management Science.

But before the Semi-Finals takes over the conversation, it is worth going back and talking about players who stood out with their skill, goals, and made the group stage worth watching made the group stage worth watching.

Here are the Top 5 best players of the tournament so far.

5) ROCKY (Allied Science)

Rocky may naturally play as a defender, but her performances in the tournament show she can also contribute going forward. She displayed an incredible performance in the match where Allied Science faced Engineering in the group stage which ended 1-1.

Rocky scored just minutes before the final whistle with a shot fired from outside the box to rescue a draw for her team.

Beyond the goal, her defensive work and ability to support attacks made her one of the standout players of the group stage.

4) MAJOR (Engineering)

Major was one of Engineering’s best attacking players in the tournament. She scored Engineering’s only goal of the tournament in the 1-1 draw against Allied Science and constantly troubled defenders throughout the match.

Her dribbling ability and movement on the ball made her a difficult player to stop, as she repeatedly broke through the Allied Science defense with confidence and pace.

Even though Engineering did not make it to the Semi-Finals, Major performance was enough to earn her place among the tournament’s top players so far.

3) CRUZ (Biological Science)

With a total of one goal, Cruz has always shown consistency as a player. Her goal came from Biological Science 2-2 draw against Management Science at the group stage fixtures.

Apart from her goal, Cruz was known for her passion and energy during matches. She constantly presses for the ball and always creates attacking opportunities whenever possible.

Her fearless style of play made her one of the most exciting players to watch in the tournament.

2) DEBBIE (Biological Science)

Debbie has been nothing but spectacular in the VC Female Football Tournament. She has scored a total of 2 goals in the tournament.

Her first goal was in the 2-0 victory against Social Science, where she scored a freekick goal just minutes after kickoff. While her second, which was penalty, was in the 2-2 draw against Management Science.

Beyond the goals, Debbie overall performances and contributions in midfield and attack have been a key part in helping Biological Science qualify for the Semi-Finals.

1) EZINNE (Pharmacy)

At the top of the list is Pharmacy’s star player, Ezinne.

Although she scored only one goal during the group stage, her performances throughout the tournament have made her arguably the most impressive player so far.

Her goal came from Pharmacy 1-0 victory over Law faculty, where she scored a beautiful long-range curler from outside the in the second half. But it was not only the goal that caught attention.

Anyone that watched the match knows that the score line does not tell the full story of how brilliant she played. She was on the ball constantly, dribbling past players, creating problems for the defense, and entertaining the crowd so much that students and spectators started calling her “Olise,” in reference to the Bayern Munich winger, whenever she was on the ball.

Ezinne, also delivered another strong performance in pharmacy’s 0-0 draw against Agric. After the match, she was named Outstanding Player of the Day and named the Man of the Match for her display.

Ezinne was also voted for VC Female Player of the Week.
