The VC Female Football Tournament 2026 officially kicked off yesterday at the MTN Stand, and it didn’t disappoint.
Three exciting opening matches were played yesterday which delivered tense moments, good attacking performances, and the tournament’s first goals.
While some faculties struggled to convert their chances, others stepped up and scored when it mattered securing their victories.
ENGINEERING VS EDUCATION
The opening match between Engineering and Education was tight in every sense. Both faculties had their chances in front of goal, but neither could find the back of the net. The match ended 0-0, and honestly both sides probably walked away feeling like they could have done more, but a point each keeps things open in Group A.

The final game between Social Science and Management Science turned out to be the most entertaining match of the day.
Management Science secured a 1-0 win thanks to a long-range strike from Chioma, who found the back of the net just minutes after kickoff.
Social Science spent most of the game trying to get back into it. They created more chances in the match but were unable to convert any of them into goals.
One of the biggest highlights of the game was the outstanding performance from Sandra, the Management Science goalkeeper, who finished the game with a total of 11 saves, including a penalty save that helped preserve her team’s lead.
Sandra’s performance played a major role in securing all three points for Management Science.
