A new transportation plan has been announced by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) with the goal of reducing the mobility issues that students in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences encounter.
Ag. SUG President Comr. Nwodo Faustina Chizaram (Zara) signed an official notice from the Office of the SUG President that included the update. Students’ comments about traffic issues near their faculty axis prompted the announcement.
The SUG President addressed the matter, stating that the university administration was consulted and that student concerns were taken seriously. The statement read, “I’ve listened attentively to your concerns regarding transportation challenges around the Faculty of Pharmacy and Allied Health, and I’m glad to inform you that your cries have been heard.”
The announcement states that in order to enhance mobility on campus, management has approved a test-run transportation plan that includes tricycles (keke) and motorcycles (bikes). Keke operators will now load from the main park rather than remain in front of hostels under the new arrangement.
The arrangement is presently an experiment, the SUG President underlined. “Please note that this week is a TEST RUN,” the notice warned. The announcement cautioned that the keke and bike operators will be removed and put back on their regular routes in the event of low participation or lack of cooperation.
In order to maintain and enhance the new transportation system, students were urged to work together and utilize it. The message went on, “We sincerely appeal to you all to make things easy for us by supporting and utilizing this arrangement so it can be sustained and improved.”
In order to ensure appropriate knowledge and cooperation, the message was copied to all departmental presidents within the axis as well as the faculty presidents of pharmacy and allied health sciences.
If the new arrangement is completely approved throughout the test phase, many students are hopeful and expect the new arrangement to ease daily mobility on campus and reduce stress.
