Faculty of Physical Sciences at ESUT Enforces New Dress Codes for Students

The Faculty of Physical Science (FAPS) in Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has just announced a new dress code policy for the students to follow.

The dress code policy was announced in a statement and made public to the university community on January 15. In the statement, students are required to wear the official Faculty Polo and department wears on some days.

On Tuesday students are required to wear their Faculty Polo. Thursdays are quite flexible, as students are required to either wear their Faculty Polo or departmental wear. Every other day students are required to wear their causal wear as long at meets with the university’s general dress standards.

In the statement, it was made clear that students who do not comply with the new dress policy will not be allowed to enter the faculty by the faculty’s security officials, including students from other faculties who might not have seen the memo. Transparent clothing, miniskirts, and other clothes that expose the sensitive parts of the body are banned outright.

The announcement which came through has a New Year statement from the Faculty Student Union Government President, Comr. Onu Ogbonna Anthony, popularly known on a campus as CEE Wisdom. He said the new dress code policy is part of a broader push to keep the faculty disciplined and allow students to study in a “distraction-free” environment.

“The measures are meant to create a disciplined, distraction-free, and healthy academic environment,” he stated.

To make sure the policy is widely spread and held, the statement was shared with the Faculty Dean, Heads of Departments, Faculty Officers, and security officials, so they would not be any room for students to say they were not informed.
